Hello! My name is Matisha MacPhail. I would like to acknowledge that
I learn and live on the unceded traditional territories of the Lhtako Dene Nation, Nazko First Nation, Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation, and ?Esdilagh First Nation. Lhtako, Nazko, and Lhoosk’uz are on traditional Dakelh territory, and ?Esdilagh is a member of the Tsilhoqt’in Nation.

I am an aspiring elementary student-teacher in my hometown of Quesnel, BC. I am incredibly grateful to be able to teach in my small town both because of the locality to family and the way it lets me give back to my community. I have always known I wanted to teach, and over time the reasoning has moved around. Ultimately, I want to be the incredible role model to my students that my own teachers were for me, and find my role in helping students learn when there are various barriers in their way.

Before education, I received my degree in anthropology at the university of British Columbia. My undergrad was a passion project where I got to focus on different aspects of human background, culture, and diversity that I find fit into my teaching amazingly.

Although I have not started working in my school district yet (as of Oct. 29, 2025), I find that I have a great deal of experience teaching and being a helping hand to students both in Prince George and Quesnel over the last three years as I’ve done work with various after-school programs and summer camps.

Outside of the classroom, I am the type of person who loves to go to the farmers market or local coffee shops to decompress. I spend my free time taking care of my plants, both my indoor jungle and outdoor garden. I also like to challenge myself by constantly baking and cooking new things for both my home and others.
